Cookie policy

Cookies are small pieces of information sent by a web server to a web browser which allows the server to uniquely identify the browser on each page.

Our website does not set any cookies of its own. If you say yes, and only then, it uses Google Analytics to count visits, and Google Ads, the LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Meta Pixel to see how our advertising is working. Those tools set cookies, and every one of them is listed below with how long it lasts. Nothing from them loads until you have said yes, and saying no changes nothing else about the site.

It also keeps a few small notes in your browser’s own storage (known as local storage and session storage) to remember choices you make on the site, and it uses some outside services to host the site and to play films. Both are listed below too.

Cookies we only use if you say yes

These tools load only on madebrave.com, only after you have said yes, and only for the kinds you said yes to: counting visits, measuring our ads, or both. Until then, nothing from them loads and nothing is sent to them. We never pass them your name, your email address or anything you write in our forms.

  • Google Analytics 4Counting visits

    Counts how many people visit, which pages they read, how they found us and roughly where in the world they are, so we can see what is working on the site. It also counts when somebody sends us one of our forms, by the name of the form and nothing they wrote in it.

  • Google AdsMeasuring our ads

    Tells us whether somebody who clicked one of our Google ads went on to send us a form, so we know which ads are worth paying for, and lets us show our ads again to people who have visited.

    Tells us whether somebody who saw or clicked one of our LinkedIn ads went on to send us a form, shows us, in groups and never one by one, what kinds of companies and jobs our visitors have, and lets us show our ads again to people who have visited.

You can change your mind at any time from Cookie settings at the foot of every page. If you take a yes back, we switch the tools off, clear the cookies they set on madebrave.com and reload the page. Cookies they set on their own websites (Google, LinkedIn and Meta) can only be cleared from your browser, the way the next part explains.

None of these notes says who you are, and none of them is sent to us. Each one is named here the way your browser names it, so you can find it.

    Only if one of our links, one of our QR codes or another website brought you here: the tags the link carried (an address with “utm_” tags in it, like the ones in our posts and talks), the short code of the QR code, the website that sent you, and the page you landed on. It goes with any form you send us, so we know which post or talk worked.

    The first page you opened on this visit, without anything else from its address.

    Your best run in the Wee Yin arcade game, kept on your device so you can try to beat it. Your score is only sent to us if you put your name on the leaderboard, and then we keep the name you gave and the score.

  • Your best score at Snakembw-office-snake-best

    Your best score at Snake, in the studio on the home page.

Outside services our website uses

Some of these services can set cookies of their own when they load. These cookies are not within our control. Please refer to the respective privacy policies for how their cookies work.

  • Our website hostEvery visit

    The company that hosts our website receives the address of your device and the kind of browser you use, like any web host, so that it can send you the pages. It also counts visits for us, with no cookies and without knowing who you are.

  • VimeoThe home page, and when you press play

    Our films are played by Vimeo, with Vimeo’s “do not track” setting switched on. The telly on the home page starts playing one of our films silently when the page opens. Every other film loads only when you press play. Pictures of our films come from Vimeo’s image server as the page loads.

    If part of the website breaks, a report of what broke is sent to the company that tells us about faults, so we can fix it. The report includes the kind of browser you use, and it is set up to leave out anything that identifies you: no name, no email address and nothing you typed.

Our fonts come from our own website. We do not use Google Fonts or any other font service.
